President Trump Addresses Knesset; Government Shutdown Enters 3rd Week | NTD Good Morning
President Donald Trump is in Israel on Monday as hostages held for more than 700 days return to their families. A huge sign on a Tel Aviv beach thanked him as Air Force One approached the Israeli coast. The president met with relatives of freed hostages and addressed the Israeli Knesset. He will next head to Egypt for a summit to formally end the war in Gaza.
Washington museums and the National Zoo remained closed over the weekend as the government shutdown heads for its 3rd week. The Trump administration has initiated mass firings for federal employees. The president has also directed War Secretary Pete Hegseth to use all means to ensure troops are paid this week. Trump says he's open to negotiating on health care after Democrats reopen the government. However, Senate Democrats are insisting that talks come first.
All 16 victims have now been identified after a massive explosion destroyed a military explosives plant west of Nashville. Authorities said there were no survivors, while rescue crews are continuing to search the volatile site. Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee has vowed a full investigation. Federal agents from the FBI and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives are working to determine what caused the blast.
